Alongside its archaeological and early artistic works, the museum has opened a section dedicated to contemporary art.
The first significant acquisition is a collection of works by the well-known Pergola artist Walter Valentini, a notable exponent of Italian and European lyrical abstract painting. Around forty engravings dedicated to “I Canti” by Giacomo Leopardi and to Galileo Galilei are on show. These were produced for the Milan publisher “Unaluna” which has published volumes of the highest quality on handmade paper and with text set in monotype.
The museum also has on exhibition the original metal plates on which Valentini carried out his engravings, providing an important educational aspect to the exhibits.
