The plan meets the requirements of the Central Office of the " Ministero dei Beni Culturali ": besides the traditional purposes of the museum that is the conservation, production and transmission of culture, its curators have been given the task to find a connection between its essence and the cultural and territorial context in which it is placed.

In the planning of the structure the architects attempted to avoid that the visitor pays more attention to the way the works are shown rather than to the works themselves.
