The rectangular mosaic, 11 x 8.90 metres, is formed by 12 square panels disposed on three rows. The panels, not all perfectly square, alternatively introduce a square or a circular design, the inside of which is rich of similar but at the same time always different decorative patterns.
The mosaic used to be the pavement of the courtyard of a "rural villa" of the 4th - 5th century AD situated near the road which connected Suasa and Sentinum. The villa was probably the residence of a " dominus " who managed the agricultural activities of the surrounding areas.
